Confidentiality and privacy

Stepping into counselling is a courageous act of self-care. Whether this is your first time seeking support or you're returning to therapy, it's natural to feel a mix of emotions—curiosity, hope, maybe even a little nervousness. Here's what you can expect when you work with us:

🛋️ A Safe, Confidential Space

Your session is a judgment-free zone. Everything we discuss is held in strict confidence, in accordance with professional ethical guidelines. This is your space to speak freely, explore your thoughts, and be heard.

A Collaboration

Counselling is a partnership. We bring professional training and experience; you bring your lived experience and inner wisdom. Together, we’ll work toward your goals at a pace that feels right for you.

🧭 A Guided Process

In our first session, we’ll get to know each other. I’ll ask questions to understand your concerns, background, and what you hope to achieve. From there, we’ll co-create a plan tailored to your needs—whether that’s managing stress, navigating life transitions, healing from trauma, or building healthier relationships.

🧰 Tools for Growth

Depending on your needs, we may draw from various therapeutic approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, or Mindfulness-Based techniques. You’ll gain practical tools and insights to support your well-being both in and outside of our sessions.

⏳ Session Details

Duration: Each session typically lasts 50 minutes.
Format: Sessions are available in-person or online.
Frequency: Weekly or bi-weekly, depending on your needs and preferences.
Fees: $100/hr

How to prepare for your first session

Starting counselling is a meaningful step toward self-awareness, healing, and growth. It’s completely normal to feel a mix of emotions—curiosity, relief, nervousness, or even uncertainty. Here are a few gentle suggestions to help you feel more prepared and comfortable for your first session:

1. Reflect

You don’t need to have all the answers, but it can be helpful to think about:

What’s been on your mind lately?
What challenges are you facing?
What would you like to feel or experience differently?

Even a few notes or thoughts jotted down can help guide our conversation.

2. Complete Forms

If you’ve received an intake form or consent document, try to complete it before we meet. This helps us make the most of our time together and ensures you understand your rights and the counselling process.

🕊️ 3. Come As You Are

There’s no need to prepare anything formal. You don’t have to “perform” or explain everything perfectly. This is a space where you can be real, messy, quiet, emotional, or unsure. All of you is welcome here.

4. Give Yourself a Moment

If possible, try to give yourself a few minutes before the session to settle in, and a few minutes afterward to reflect or decompress. Counselling can bring up emotions, and it’s helpful to have space to process.

Find a quiet, private space where you feel safe to speak freely.
Use headphones if possible, to protect your privacy and improve sound quality.
Check your internet connection and log in a few minutes early to avoid technical hiccups.

You’re welcome to ask anything—about the process, confidentiality, or how we’ll work together. This is your space, and your comfort matters.
